Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA) strives to empower Indigenous youth to make positive changes in their lives by offering a wide range of services, resources, and opportunities. UNYA offers 20 programs and services and sees on average 28,000 youth visits annually. Through all program development and design UNYA recognizes that today’s Indigenous youth deserve better outcomes than previous generations, and they are still affected and face many challenges from the intergenerational affects of the residential school system.

Despite these obstacles, Indigenous youth are resilient. UNYA is currently working towards raising funds to build a brand new Native Youth Centre NYC – a 50,000 square foot centre of excellence that would respond to the growing need for expansion in services and also offer affordable housing for our youth and their families.

“With the community rallying behind UNYA we will make this project a reality. Investing in Urban Indigenous youth is an act of reconciliation.  This development – the first of its kind in Canada – will provide Indigenous youth with a regional hub that fosters a positive sense of belonging, access to a diverse continuum of culturally responsive programs and where they can also call home ”

– Cheryl Robinson, Interim Chief Executive Officer
